READING
ALOUD ACTIVITY
INTRODUCTION
Reading aloud is basically a reading
activity with a twist. Instead of academic text, participants are given a
storybook to read. This storybook is essentially a script based on folk
cultures with an underlying message of universal truth.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this activity is to
allow students to explore their creative side in pronouncing the words while at
the same time allow the students to practice their pronunciation skills.
This activity also promotes teamwork,
as they are required to read their intended lines while at the same time they
need to anticipate their teammates' line.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
There are several things that need to
be adhered to by all participants:
1. The number of participants allowed
in a team is 10.
2. Each department has to send a
team.
3. The respective department has to
pick/choose their respective students for this competition.
4. The organising committee will be
responsible in providing the intended reading materials and the organisation of
the competition only.
5. The respective teams are going to
be TRAINED BY THEIR RESPECTIVE
DEPARTMENT.
6. For the teams, they will be given
chairs and microphones during the competition.
7. If the team(s) wanted to bring
additional props, it is on the discretion of the team.
8. During the competition, the teams
are required to be present for the drawing of lots. Failure to do so will
render the team to be disqualified.
9. The adjudication process will be
tasked to the guest adjudicators chosen by the organiser.
10. For the competition proper, it is
going to be a single staging for all the teams i.e. the teams will perform
based on their drawn lots (1,2,3..) for ONE TIME ONLY.
11. The teams are going to be
adjudicated based on their performance as a team.
12. The winner will be decided based
on the highest score obtained.
13. The organiser will be THE SOLE DECIDER for any disputes and
the decision made is FINAL.
